CNN Summarizes Reddit AMA About Airline Wisdom

You can still ask to see the cockpit!

CNN posted a summary from a Reddit AMA that culminates in a cool list of things that you may have known (or thought to think of) about flying. Just a few:

  • When taking off and landing at night, lights are turned off in the cabin to allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness. In the event of an evacuation, you’ll be able to see better.
  • “If we’re not going to make it, we’re definitely not going to tell you,” says one flight attendant on the Reddit story. “The last thing we need before we die is a riot.”

Take a look, and you might learn a thing or two. I certainly did.

Link to the Past Sequel coming to Nintendo 3DS

MOTHER OF GOD.

Nintendo will release a new Legend of Zelda game for Nintendo 3DS based on the world of A Link to the Past later this year, the company announced today. A sequel to the Super NES original, the game will feature new mechanics, including the ability for Link to become a 2D drawing and move along walls.
Is this the reason I buy a 3DS? And why am I sweating all of a sudden? Where am I? Why are there unicorns flying past me.. ooo dinosaurs...

Wanted: A Couple Ready to Launch to Mars (Mars One)

This had a lot of funny points to it, and also some interesting thoughts in it - like if a trip to Mars was 501 days long, and if they sent a man and a woman.. and well, if they got it on, and she got pregnant early on the trip.. you'd have birth in zero gravity?

But Cenk saying "global cock tease" was my favorite.

Anyway, I doubt this will end well for a test run, but we'll see..

Mars One, the ambitious (some might say crazy) project that aims to make the red planet's colonization into a successful reality TV show, will begin accepting video submissions for its first batch of astronauts in July. In an attempt to separate serious candidates from dreamers, the company plans to institute an entry fee that will vary depending on your native country. It's reportedly going to top off at $25 though, so hopefuls won't need to take out a second mortgage to plot out their departure from Earth. The mandatory fee is also a means for Mars One to secure funding for the actual trip and Mars colony buildout."*

Inspiration Mars is accepting applications for a couple to take a 501 day trip to Mars and back. Is it safe? Would you want to apply for this possibly deadly trip that won't actually land on the red planet? Cenk Uygur and Dave Rubin discuss.

PINK PARTY - footage from Refresh party

Brief interview in language I don't understand at the front.

Don't know the name of the song - but it definitely brings me back to late 90s early 2000s with the build up pieces, then the break down is more modern. Booty shakin'!

Video behind the cut. (Vimeo likes to autoplay and it's laggier than YouTube)

will.i.am Rips Off Beat/Sample from Proper EDM Artist Without Permission

Oh yeah, and no permission was asked or approved. Open close case. I believe Arty and Mat Zo have filed suit - hopefully they win.

There's a silver lining to this.  The more exposure that pop culture gives to EDM, the easier it will be for the "original artists" and lesser knowns that actually write good quality EDM to break through.

Still, rageworthy theft demonstrated in this video.

Daym Drops reviews Subway Smokehouse BBQ Chicken

Daym always makes the stuff he eats look so delicious. (sounds kinda good in general) I wonder if he's getting paid now for these?

Gitmo Defense Lawyers Illegally Bugged and Hacked

It's a nightmarish joke at this point. It's high time to close this place down or at least get some better oversight.

The military justice system at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, which has been dogged by charges of secret monitoring of proceedings and defense communications, became embroiled in a fresh controversy Thursday when it was revealed that hundreds of thousands of defense e-mails were turned over to the prosecution."*

In what is seen as a desperate attempt to keep Guantanamo Bay prisoners in their cells, emails with sensitive information from their defense attorneys were turned over to the prosecution. How else were the prisoners compromised? Cenk Uygur breaks it down.
