Triple H gets dry ice burns @ Wrestlemania

Looks painful - poor trips. At least he took it like a man.

- On Saturday night at Wrestlemania XXIX, 13-time champion Triple H defeated ex-UFC champ Brock Lesnar. Nice story, yeah, but that's not the real story of the match.  Continue reading

EA Voted Worst Company in America Again

"A Consumerist readers' poll of the "worst companies" has awarded Electronic Arts a "Golden Poo" for the second year in a row. The video game maker, whose botched release of "SimCity" recently drew intense criticism from users, earned nearly 78 percent of readers' votes, faring far worse than runner-up Bank of America."* A consumerist reader's poll has named EA the worst company in America. What did Electronic Arts do that made them more detested than even Bank of America and AT&T? Ana Kasparian and Dave Rubin (Rubin Report) discuss along with Kim Horcher (Nerd Alert). *Read more from Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/10/electronic-arts-worst-company-consumerist_n_3052000.html

Texas Mass Stabbing Winess: I'm Glad it Wasn't Guns

"As Mediaite's Noah Rothman predicted yesterday, it didn't take long for the horrific mass stabbing incident yesterday at Lone Star Community College campus in Cypress, Texas to find its way into the gun control debate. Today on Fox News, Megyn Kelly interviewed one of the students who tackled the assailant and subdued him so police could bring him into custody. Towards the end of the interview, Stephen Maida explained why he doesn't think guns would have improved the situation on campus."* Stephen Maida was one of the students who was able to tackle and subdue a college student gone on a stabbing spree at Lone star Community College in Cypress, Texas. When Fox News asked him how he felt about concealed weapons on college campuses, he answered that he was grateful that the assailant didn't have a gun. So far, none of the stabbed victims have died of their wounds. Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show), Desi Doyen (Green News Report), and Brad Friedman (BradBlog.com) discuss. *Read more from Mediaite: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/this-kid-could-have-been-shooting-all-14-people-student-who-tackled-lone-star-stabber-opposes-concealed-carry-on-fox/ Support The Young Turks by Subscribing http://bit.ly/TYTonYouTube Like Us on Facebook: http://www.fb.com/tytnation Follow Us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/theyoungturks Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: http://www.current.com/gettyt

Rehtaeh Parsons - Teen Commits Suicide After Rape Goes Viral

"Seventeen months ago a Canadian teen was allegedly gang-raped by four of her peers and the photo evidence of the rape spread across her community. But unlike the situation that unfolded in Steubenville, where the victim was at least given the comfort of knowing her assailants received some measure of punishment (even if the media took their side), this case ended in tragedy: The victim was taken off life support by her family on Sunday, three days after attempting to end her own life."* A 17-year old Canadian girl committed suicide after pictures from her gang rape went viral and her peers bullied her, calling her a slut. No charges were filed against the boys who raped her until after her death. Is this what it takes these days to get justice? Are we that entrenched in "rape culture" and victim blaming? Ana Kasparian and Dave Rubin discuss. *Read more from Think Progress: http://thinkprogress.org/health/2013/04/09/1840501/rehtaeh-parsons-rape-culture/ Support The Young Turks by Subscribing http://bit.ly/TYTonYouTube Like Us on Facebook: http://www.fb.com/tytnation Follow Us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/theyoungturks Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: http://www.current.com/gettyt

Prostitutes Help The Disabled Finally Enjoy Sex

"A forthcoming Channel 4 documentary, Can Have Sex Will Have Sex, features the sex lives of four disabled people, one of whom loses his virginity to an escort who has been hired by his mother. The programme has been labelled "controversial", but many mothers call the sex and disability helpline, which I run, worried that their disabled son is physically unable to masturbate and desperately needs an outlet. Hiring a sex worker is one option."* In a new documentary, the lives of the disabled are chronicled in a way we don't usually see. Many disabled people cannot enjoy the fulfillment of having a sex life, so in many cases a parent or family member will pay a sex worker to help. The act is being called "controversial," but is it? Ana Kasparian and Dave Rubin (Rubin Report) discuss. *Read more from The Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/apr/10/sex-workers-disabled-people Support The Young Turks by Subscribing http://bit.ly/TYTonYouTube Like Us on Facebook: http://www.fb.com/tytnation Follow Us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/theyoungturks Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: http://www.current.com/gettyt

Obama Slashes Social Security - GOP Approved?

"Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) made it clear Wednesday in an email to supporters that not only would she oppose President Barack Obama's plan to cut Social Security benefits through a cost-of-living adjustment known as chained CPI, but that she was "shocked to hear" it was included in the White House's budget proposal at all."* John Boehner seems pleased with President Obama's budget proposal, complete with enormous cuts to social security. Is it any surprise? Is Obama the worst negotiator ever, or did he want Social Security- which is critical to middle-class families, the elderly, the disabled, and orphans- gone? Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show), Desi Doyen (Green News Report), and Brad Friedman (BradBlog.com) discuss. *Read more from Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/10/elizabeth-warren-social-security_n_3053355.html Support The Young Turks by Subscribing http://bit.ly/TYTonYouTube Like Us on Facebook: http://www.fb.com/tytnation Follow Us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/theyoungturks Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: http://www.current.com/gettyt CLICK HERE: https://app.wizehive.com/webform/o6hMDs4rBmw to enter The Young Turks Billion Views Party Sweepstakes http://youtu.be/uTwjbBbrpt8. Gender Segregation in the Workplace

"Kimberly A. Elkjer, a partner at Scheef & Stone LLP, is suing the Dallas-based law firm over a policy that banned male and female employees from working alone together. The suit alleges that in-office gender segregation, and the firm's no-fraternization policy that prohibited socializing outside of work, prevented women from being promoted at the same rate as their male colleagues."* A lawyer in Texas says a rule in her workplace forbidding office dating is so strict that she and her male colleagues are effectively segregated, and she's missing out on opportunities the male workers aren't. Is this a new way to discriminate? Ana Kasparian and Dave Rubin (Rubin Report) discuss. Republican Rewrites History - We're Not The Racists!

"Give Rand Paul some credit for attempting to do what several decades of elections have shown is a tall order: Get African-Americans to vote Republican. But in order to make his point today at Howard University, he asked the crowd to not only look past his own brief opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but to willfully ignore the fact that the law fundamentally remade American political parties to the point that they bear little resemblance to their 1950s versions."* How do Republicans court black voters? Well, according to a Rand Paul Speech at Howard University...lie to them about the GOP's history, as well as your own. He blamed Democrats for nearly every civil rights violation against black people in the United States, and seemed to forget his own brush with preserving racism. Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show), Desi Doyen (Green News Report), and Brad Friedman (BradBlog.com) discuss. *Read more from Salon: http://www.salon.com/2013/04/10/rand_paul_tries_to_outrun_the_civil_rights_act_at_howard/ Support The Young Turks by Subscribing http://bit.ly/TYTonYouTube Like Us on Facebook: http://www.fb.com/tytnation Follow Us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/theyoungturks Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: http://www.current.com/gettyt

Weak Background Check Bill Isn't Enough

"Momentum grew for Senate passage of gun legislation when a bipartisan group of senators on Wednesday announced agreement on deals to expand background checks and tighten laws against gun trafficking. The first breakthrough came in a deal on background checks announced by Sens. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who agreed on an amendment that would exempt all "personal" transfers of weapons between individuals, but would close the infamous gun show loophole and also require background checks on Internet sales."* There's a background check bill that looks like it will barely pass, but is it enough to curb guns getting into the hands of potentially dangerous people? What arguments are there against background checks, (which 90% of Americans want)? Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show), Desi Doyen (Green News Report), and Brad Friedman (BradBlog.com) discuss. Birth Control Pills Recalled - How Many Women Got Pregnant?

"A Canadian drug distributor has issued an urgent recall for Alysena-28 birth control pills. Apotex says one batch of the Alysena-28 may contain two weeks of placebo sugar pills instead of one, adding the error can reduce the effectiveness of the pills and raises the possibility of unplanned pregnancy."* A batch of bad birth control packs was released to the public- the packs had 2 weeks of placebo pills instead of just one. This begs the question: how many women became accidentally pregnant because of this, and will the company take any action? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian discuss. *Read more from CBC News: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2013/04/08/ns-birth-control-pill-recalls.html

Fox News Wants Attention for One Act of Real Journalism

"Beginning last Friday, Fox News Channel's personalities, left and right, engaged in an effort to raise public and media awareness about the case of Jana Winter -- a Fox reporter who could face jail time for protecting a confidential source. As part of that campaign, Fox News contributors implied that the media was ignoring Winter's story because she worked for Fox News. The steady drumbeat eventually produced results and the media's silence on Winter's case is today well and truly broken. That broken silence may be due in part to the severe admonishment Fox News contributors levied on their media colleagues for ignoring the plight of one of their own."* Jana Winter is a Fox reporter who's protecting a source who leaked her confidential information in the Aurora Theater shooting case. This is good. But when the media didn't report on in, Fox News started crying about it on air, which led to some coverage. Is this right? Should the media have spread the story, or were they right not to respect Fox News? Cenk Uygur breaks it down. *Read more from Mediaite: http://www.mediaite.com/online/did-fox-news-successfully-shame-the-media-into-covering-jana-winters-first-amendment-fight/

The Majority Wants Gun Legislation - Why Don't We Have It?

" Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) likely has the votes on gun control legislation to clear its first procedural hurdle -- a victory for the gun control community, though one that hardly guarantees the bill's passage. The majority leader announced on Tuesday evening he would submit for a vote the bill to expand background checks, implement a federal trafficking statute and enhance school safety measures. That would set up a Senate vote on Thursday. "* The majority of Americans- liberal and conservative- want reasonable gun control. Then why don't we have it? Why do NRA interests get pushed above the majority of what America wants? Even Barack Obama and Joe Biden are asking. Cenk Uygur breaks it down. *Read more from Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/09/gun-control-reform_n_3046182.html
